Zip-Ty Racing at the Zaca Station Round of the WORCS Series
May 2007
It is monday morning and just wanted to give everyone an update on our weekend at the Zaca Station round of the WORCS series. the biggest challnege we were going to face for the weekend would be the dust. The dust was thick and everywhere, as the track was not watered. all the practice and qualifying rounds went well, as everyone just tried to learn the track, as it got rougher and rougher.
As sunday came about, Sherri started off the morning in the women’s pro class. Sherri got off to a good start and was running in the second position as they entered the back section. When they emerged from the back, Sherri was out front and starting to pull away. Sherri continued to stay out front and took the checkered flag winning the women’s pro class.
Andy Jefferson was next up in the master pro class. he got off the line good and was running mid pack. He passed a few riders in the next couple of corners and was running in the 3rd position. when they re-entered from the back section, andy was in the lead and starting to pull away. andy continued to run up front, until he was caught and passed and dropped him into second position, where he would finish.
Our factory rider for the day this weekend was Joe Vadeboncoeur from trek bicycles. Joe cam out from the East coast where he is used to tight woods riding. This would definetly be an adjustment for him since this was more a motocross oriented format. Joe signed up for the 250b class and the vet open class. He finished a respectable 11th and 7th in his classes. We would like to thank Joe for his support of our racing program and that Zip-Ty racing was glad to give him the opportunity to ride for our team.
As the pro race was getting underway, they had applied no water to the track all day and it was dusty. on the line was Bobby Garrison, Ty Davis, and Nick Brozovich. Bobby got a great start in second position behind Dietrich, whom he would pass in the next few corners. Nick Brozovich also got a great jump off the start and was running in the second position behind Josh Morros.
As the race continued, Bobby Garrison started to extend his lead and at the halfway point he was 50 seconds up on second place. that lead would disappear when he stalled the bike in the logs and had a hard time getting restarted. While still fighting the flu, Bobby was soon passed by Kurt Casseli with 45 minutes to go. Bobby would hang on to finish in second position.
Nick Brozovich continued strong throughout the race and picked up the lead when Josh Morros crashed. Nick lead thru the mid part of the race until he was caught and passed by Jamie Lanza and dropped to the second position where he would finish.
Overall we had a great weekend with a number of podium postions. we would like to thank all of our sponsors, family and friends for there support and we look forward to seeing you at teh next round in Washington.
